CONSTRUCTION (DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT) REGULATIONS 2015.
CDM Regulations apply to all construction projects in the UK; domestic, commercial, and temporary works are all included. Commonly referred to as CDM, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations have been around since 1994, with the most recent update taking place in 2015.
The CDM Regulations were introduced in 1994 to ensure adherence to health and safety legislation. The regulations set out how domestic and commercial projects should be managed from inception to completion.
Under the regulations, various duty holders were identified and given specific duties and obligations:
- Clients
- Principal Contractors
- Principal Designers
- Designers
- Contractors.
Each construction project requires the appointment of a CDM Dutyholder to facilitate the correct CDM Regulation implementation. Often, the Principal Contractor of the construction project is designated this responsibility, although that is not always the case.
One of the roles cited in the CDM regulations is that of Principal Designer. Huntsmans Gate Consulting can undertake this role on the client’s behalf during the planning, design and construction phases of the project. This to ensure coordination of the project, identify and mitigate risks and monitor compliance. This would include producing key documents:
- Pre-Construction Information
- Construction Phase Plan
- Health and Safety File
Why appoint us?
Huntsmans Gate Consulting have over 25 years of experience in implementing the requirements of the CDM regulations.
